Publicly Listed Company
Publicly Listed Companies do not appear overnight.
These are usually well established companies who have expanded to a point where they are dominant in a particular market sector, and who require a capital injection to become a household name or to expand to a whole new level.
A Public Limited Company is able to sell its shares to the public, and
may be listed/quoted on the stock exchange or secondary/alternative investment
markets
A minimum of £50000 worth of shares must be issued before the company is entitled to begin business or borrow money, with a minimum of 2 Directors appointed.
Companies House must be satisfied that these requirements have been met before a company will be granted PLC status.
